Introduction

Hi all!
Welcome to my blog 'Sketchy Summer Time!', where my summertime dreams..and other (possible) dreams will come alive!
Basically, this is an art blog specifically designed for a summer digital art class I am taking at the University of Texas. Cool school, cool art. The blog will feature primary sketches, in-progress images, and the final product.
Of course, I am super duper excited about starting this blog because art is fun and awesome.

For the first project, I will be doing a big print that will (hopefully) suspend from one wall to the next. The location of the print will be in this space called the Flood Gallery, which is located in the Art building at UT. It is the fourth floor to be exact. I have recorded the measurements of the space into my sketchbook. By tonight, I will post the measurements, so there is more of an understanding of this Flood Gallery. The subject matter for the project is a little difficult to explain, but it has to do with aerialists and ambiguous/made-up forms.
The aerialist idea came to mind because it is a personal hobby that I thoroughly enjoy. Personally, I started on aerial silks a couple summers ago, but lately it has all been about trapeze. It is a challenging hobby that forces one to express their body in unimaginable ways. It also pushes one to their limits, but that is what I kind of live for.
Anyways, what I want to do with these aerialists is integrate them into these forms...like this painting here:
My former classmates said that the form was a tentacle, a diseased creature, or something with warts.
Most responses were pretty disgusting and I had no intention to make it this way;however, something in me wanted the painting to take this path. Not sure if this is a reflection of me because if that is the case...I think I am concerned about my mental health, HAHA.
The large print will feature about 3-5 aerialists, with different tricks, colors, and forms.

Ok well I am going to stop writing and get to work!
Peace out girl scout,
Kathryn
